Privacy Policy

BudgetWise (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a personal budget tracking application developed by AppTechno (apptechno.net). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use BudgetWise at budgetwise.apptechno.net or the BudgetWise Android app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash). We do not collect your name unless you voluntarily provide a display name in your profile settings.

1.2 Financial Data You Enter

BudgetWise stores the financial data you enter, including:

• Income entries (amount, category, month, description)
• Expense entries (amount, category, date, description)
• Budget plans (monthly limits per category)
• Custom categories (name, color, icon)
• Profile preferences (currency, language)

This data is stored securely in our database and is accessible only to you. We use row-level security to ensure no other user can access your data.

1.3 Receipt Images (OCR)

If you use the receipt scanning feature, the image you upload is sent to the Google Vision API solely to extract text (amount, date). The image is not stored permanently on our servers after processing. Raw OCR output may be saved alongside the expense entry to improve accuracy.

1.4 Payment Information

If you subscribe to BudgetWise Premium, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment details. We only retain your Stripe Customer ID to manage your subscription status.

1.5 Usage Data

We may collect standard server logs including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and performance monitoring purposes only.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the BudgetWise service
• To generate your budget reports, forecasts, and charts
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts)
• To process subscription payments via Stripe
• To improve application performance and fix bugs

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

BudgetWise uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — Database, authentication, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
• Stripe — Payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Google Vision API — OCR receipt scanning (policies.google.com/privacy)
• Google AdSense — Advertisements shown to free-plan users (policies.google.com/privacy)
• Resend — Transactional email delivery (resend.com/privacy)
• Vercel — Application hosting (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy)

4. Advertising

Free-plan users see advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to show personalized ads based on your interests. You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Ads Settings. Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data including income entries, expenses, budget plans, and profile information is permanently deleted within 30 days. You can initiate account deletion from Settings → Profile → Delete Account.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Row-level security (RLS) — your data is isolated from other users at the database level
• Passwords stored as secure hashes (never in plain text)
• Regular security updates to all dependencies

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — View all your data within the app at any time
• Correction — Edit or update any of your data
• Deletion — Delete your account and all associated data
• Export — Contact us to request a data export
• Opt-out — Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

BudgetWise is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notification.
